Uninterrupted time. Purposeful activities. Biblical teaching. God’s creation.
All of the above listed were experienced by mothers and daughters in the Living Water’s peaceful valley.
Our speaker Tara Chamberlain, who is a new friend to camp, encouraged us during three sessions to always rejoice, pray without ceasing and continually give thanks. Tara gave many examples of ways to apply these words from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 by developing daily “home habits.”
The 78 participants made the most of the programmed events. Each mother and daughter enjoyed a time of reflection and prayer during the night hike on the Mockingbird Trail. We again hosted a “Mother-Daughter Dinner Date” on Saturday night and encouraged the moms and girls (and a few grandmas!) to exchange love letters over a delicious home made pizza dinner. We continued our themed “slumber party” dinner by having a popcorn with candy buffet and a relaxing movie night.
Despite the warmer temperatures, the guests enjoyed being outside in the melting snow and even made the best of it by having a snowman building contest!
The retreat was carefully and prayerfully planned and guests and volunteers were blessed by the weekend at Living Waters.
