Many have questions about our summer camp programs. Please know that we are keeping abreast with changing CDC, State, and Local guidelines and are planning accordingly. Here are some answers to commonly asked questions.

HALF-WEEK CAMP

Q: Why are camp programs shortened to 4 days?
A1: Maintaining social distancing at camp is going to be a challenge. We have eliminated many activities that would be more susceptible to cross-contamination. With fewer programs, we believe camp will better function as a 4-day event.

A2: In an attempt to limit the number of people at camp at one time (offering small camps) we will be able to serve more campers with half-week camps.

COST
Q: Since camp is half a week, is the cost different?
A: Yes, the cost is approximately half the cost of the full week of camp.

Q: Are scholarships still available?
A: Yes, and please do not hesitate to complete our scholarship request form. We don’t want camp fees, especially during this time, to be a hindrance to attending camp. Click here for the scholarship request form.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: If you or camp choose to cancel prior to camp you will receive a full refund. If you cancel, we would ask you to consider a donation to support the ministry. Any refund requests need to be approved by an Office Administrator. For Refunds call 608-634-4373.

DORM REQUESTS
Q: How many cabinmate requests can my camper make?
A: With the limited size of cabins each week, we are encouraging parents to make sure that cabinmate requests have campers asking for each other (i.e. Suzie asks for Jill and Jill ask for Suzie). Also, to make sure we are serving campers coming on a more singular basis, cabinmate requests may be limited to just one other camper and not groups of 3 or more together unless the group can fill a cabin.

SCHEDULE
Q: If attending both A & B become available, what will that look like?
A: At this point campers will not be allowed to attend both an A and B session. Primarily because campers would need to be picked up at the end of Session A, travel off-grounds, and then brought back to check in for Session B to allow the camp to go through its cleaning procedures. Activities & Schedule will not be different in the second half of camp.

FOOD/ALLERGIES
Q: If you are doing a “simple meals” program, what does that mean for campers with allergies?
A: Camp plans to serve campers with allergies the same way we have in the past, through a parent connecting with our Kitchen Manager. Eating simple meals implies that the meals will be more basic in presentation and variety (i.e. maybe only two veggies options instead of four). While camp menus have not been finalized currently, please feel free to reach out with any questions to our Kitchen Manager: Kevin (foodservices@lwbc.org)

REGISTRATION

Q: When will Session B open up for the other camps, if at all?
A: When we have at least 10 campers on the waiting list and 10 willing to switch from Session A to B.

Q: Will my child attend session A or B?
A: For camps that currently have A & B sessions you may choose which one you want to attend. Contact us if you would like to switch your camper from one session to another.

CHECK-IN

Q: Will the check-in procedure change this year?

A: Yes. The process must be much faster and must practice social distancing. Our procedure is as follows:

  • Each camper may only bring one parent or guardian to camp for check-in.

  • Families park in the parking lot.

  • There will be a large tent next to the parking lot. This tent will host the nurse table and the luggage area.

  • The nurse will: check temperatures of campers, fill out health screening tool including the additional COVID-19 questions, collect meds, and check forms.
Campers with a temp of 100.4 or higher will not be permitted to attend camp.
Campers’ luggage will be put under the tent in a color-coded space. The luggage will be picked up and delivered to cabins by maintenance staff.

  • The parent and camper walk across the concrete bridge to go to the handwashing station.
The Director’s tent will be in front of the lodge in the picnic table area. The payment table will also be located with the directors.

  • Campers meet dorm leaders next to the director’s tent.

  • Parents do not go into the dorm but rather walk across the bridge to return to the car.

Q: How will the check-out procedure change?

A: We will perform a “drive-through” check-out. Campers will be outside ready with bags and other luggage to be reunited with parents. A wrap-up video will be posted online at the end of each week (Saturday).

Q: Will camp still require authorized pick verification?

A: Yes. On Check-out days vehicles will be stopped and checked against our Authorized Pick-up person list. Make sure you have checked your authorized pick up person during your online registration.
