Last Tuesday, the Vernon County Board of Supervisors voted to accept a plan to fix the Jersey Valley dam (in order to refill the 58-acre lake).
This subject is of importance to LWBC because, as many of you know, Jersey Valley Lake borders the camp property and was used for many camp activities before it was emptied because of an incident in 2004.
A brief summary of the recent article is as follows:
- The board has agreed upon putting over 1 million dollars into the restoration of the lake.
- They paid researchers to come up with an idea for a new dam that would eliminate the problems the lake had, and that dam is what they have approved to build.
- The deadline for the final plans for the DNR is October of this year – though there has been a history of delays in the past.
