Rimon Moses and his 19 year old son Caleb volunteered to direct Boys Camp this year at Living Waters. Rimon had directed camps years ago with his wife, and Caleb had been a camper and dorm leader in the past, but they had never directed a camp together…until this past week!
The idea came from an unlikely source. Caleb was planning to be a dorm leader for Boys Camp when his younger brother, Sam, suggested that Caleb and his dad should direct. At a Christmas family gathering, the extended family began “brainstorming” the idea. That’s when the idea really took off! Father and Son would direct. Sister would be the nurse. Mom, Grandma, Aunt and another sister would work in the kitchen. Grandpa and Uncle would teach. It quickly became a family affair!
Rimon says he has been so blessed “to see my kids take their next step.” Serving together at camp as a family has been a long time family goal. Caleb says, “It took us 19 years to get this point.” Caleb denies it, but Rimon claims that Caleb is doing all the work, and he recognizes that “this was a great opportunity for Caleb to lead and serve.” Together they really did a great job of leading a special camp for young men to experience God’s Word and God’s Creation. Many of the boys campers made commitments to following Christ and making Him the Lord of their lives.
Caleb said that he saw God answer prayers throughout the whole expereince. At one point he was in need of a few more dorm leaders, so he began praying for more help. He said that, “in one 24 hour time period, God provided 3 dorm leaders!”
Camp is a wonderful place for families to serve the Lord together. Whether in the kitchen, maintenance or even in directing a camp, we encourage you to find a way to serve together as a family. Rimon says, “There’s nothing better than serving together as a family!”
Thank you to the Moses, Richetto, and Grebe families, as well as many other volunteers that made Boys Campm 2018 a success!
